  • Setting Up the Capture Space

    Video Transcript:

To set up your Visven capture space, ensure you have an open area measuring approximately 7 feet by 7 feet. You will use the measuring tape provided in your starter kit to measure out the tripod's location relative to the center of the calibration mat.

Position the tripod so that it is 72 inches straight out from the mat's center, and 74 inches to the side of the mat. It should always be diagonal to your subject's right shoulder.

Adjust the tripod's height to 56 inches from the ground to the clamp where you will place your phone.

For convenience, we recommend marking the initial placement area with tape to ensure quick and hassle-free set up for your future motion analysis sessions.

Here are some tips and tricks for setting up your capture space.

The tripod should always be diagonal to your subject's right shoulder.

Place tape for reference on the floor to mark the location of the mat and tripod for easy set-up in the future.

The mat should be removed from the space after calibration is finished. When performing assessments, the athlete should always land in the same location of where the mat was originally.

The subject being recorded should be the only person in frame of the video during assessments.

Keep your recordings as short as possible to minimize processing time of the videos.

  • Adding a New Patient & Finding an Existing Patient

    Video Transcript:

Before you begin recording assessments, you will need to input some demographic information about your subject into the app.

To add a new client who has not yet been tested with Visven, select the 'New Patient' option. You will be prompted to fill out the client's name, sex, and date of birth. You can also add a unique ID, otherwise Visven will generate one for you if left blank. Click 'Next'.

Then, you will be prompted to fill out metrics including height, weight, dominant lower extremity side, and primary sport. Click 'Next'.

Finally, you will be prompted to provide some information about the client's injury history, if applicable. Select whether the client has a history of any lower extremity injury and provide the injured side and the injury category. Then, select whether the client has had any orthopedic surgery and provide the type and date of surgery, if known. Click 'Save New Patient' to continue.

To record a client who has previously been assessed with Visven, select 'Existing Patient'. Use the search function to find a client and review previous assessments or record a new assessment.

  • Calibration

    Video Transcript:

After you've entered the client's information in the app and selected your assessment type, you will be directed to Calibration.

On this screen, you'll see a red square overlaid on the display. Use the tripod's tilt function to tilt your phone and align the red square with the calibration mat on the ground until the square turns green, which indicates that your phone is correctly angled and positioned.

Once calibration is complete, remove the calibration mat from the capture space. Ensure that your subject jumps on the spot where the mat was originally placed, and you are all set to capture smooth and accurate motion data.

  • Assessment Types

    Video Transcript:

Visven currently supports 3 different types of assessments. By the end of this video, you will be familiar with who each assessment is suited for, when each assessment can be used, and what each assessment entails.

First is the Visven General Biomechanics Screen. This screening can be used for any healthy client to establish a baseline movement profile. It can also be used on clients with previous injury history, as long as they have no movement restrictions. This screening can be performed at annual check-in visits or as part of a pre-season physical, and consists of 3 trials of a Drop Vertical Jump.

Next is the Rehabilitation Assessment, which can be used for any client with lower extremity pathology, as long as it is safe for them to perform the testing. This assessment can be performed weekly or monthly as needed as part of rehabilitation to track progress longitudinally. Testing consists of 3 trials each of 1 or more of the following tests of your choice: Drop Vertical Jump, Countermovement Jump, and/or Tuck Jump.

Last is the ACL Rehabilitation Assessment, which is specifically for clients who are currently rehabbing an ACL injury. Testing can be performed weekly or biweekly as needed as part of rehabilitation to track progress longitudinally. Testing consists of 3 trials each of 1 or more of the following tests of your choice: Drop Vertical Jump, Countermovement Jump, and/or Tuck Jump. This assessment type also allows you to input values for quad and hamstring strength, and have your client take the ACL Return to Sport after Injury score to assess psychological readiness to return to sport.

  • Accessing the Web Portal & Exporting a Report

    Video Transcript:

Once you've completed your assessment, Visven will automatically process your results and generate an individualized report for your client.

Reports can be viewed directly in the app, or in the Visven Web Portal for easy sharing and documenting. To access the Web Portal, click 'Share' in the bottom righthand corner of the results page in the app, or navigate to app.visven.ai in a web browser. Log in to the Web Portal with the same credentials you use in the app.

Results can be viewed directly in the app, or they can be viewed in the Visven Web Portal for easy sharing and documenting. To access the Web Portal, click 'Share' the bottom righthand corner of the results page in the app, or navigate to app.visven.ai in a web browser. Log in to the Web Portal with the same credentials you use in the app.

On the Web App, you can review the entire summary report for each of the client's previous sessions. Click the 'print' button in the upper righthand corner to generate a PDF for sharing or implementing into an electronic medical record. The report includes a summary of all relevant kinematic variables and an interactive breakdown of results. Click on any red circle to show an interpretation of the client's deficits, plus recommendations for targeted exercises to address each deficit. The corresponding trial numbers in which deficits were identified will show up in red in the upper righthand corner. Click on any trial number to navigate to the Analysis tab.

Here, you can play back videos of all recorded trials as well as view coordinating plots of each kinematic variable. Scroll along the plots to display a blue box with values for each variable at any time point in the assessment. The red line on each plot indicates the estimated Initial Contact frame of the recorded jump. Click the 3 dots on the bottom righthand corner of the video to adjust playback speed or download the video.
